Description

Carlson Civil Suite is a bundle that includes Carlson Survey, Carlson Civil, Carlson Hydrology & Carlson GIS. It can run standalone with the included license of IntelliCAD or on top of a separately purchased license of full AutoCAD. All Carlson Software purchases will be delivered by email with your new serial number and download instructions within two business days.

The programs of the Civil Suite are mostly comparable to civil/survey programs such as: DCA/Softdesk/Land Desktop, AutoCAD Map, Civil 3d, Eagle Point, TerraModel, GeoPak and InRoads. However, some features of Carlson Civil also match up well to construction estimating software such as Paydirt, Quest and Agtek.

Civil engineering design software that puts you in the passing lane

What might take days with other civil engineering software takes just hours, or even minutes, with the powerful and intuitive Carlson Civil–it’s advanced technology that will work for you. Work with Carlson Civil on AutoCAD (versions 2010 to current) or with the built-in IntelliCAD 8.1. With Carlson Civil, you’ll get true 3D, easy-to-use 3D, plus, with the updated 3D Flyover, any surface edits made in CAD are automatically updated in the 3D view.

Road NETwork. Build all roads, intersections and cul-de-sacs in 2D and 3D with a single click of the “PROCESS” button.

SiteNET. Elevate your estimating accuracy with this intuitive layer-based surface generator and earthwork calculator.

LotNET. Quickly define an entire subdivision of lots based on an outer boundary, interior ROWs or Centerlines, and a simple set of user-defined “rules,” then pick “PROCESS” and the lots appear, defined and labeled.

The Civil Suite is designed especially for civil engineers and CAD technicians who need power and flexibility to make “short work” of even the most challenging design projects. At its foundation, Carlson Civil contains sophisticated and integrated command sets that are easy to learn, cost-effective and even fun to use!

Features

Drawing Cleanup
Perform data integrity checks, convert proprietary objects into usable entities and eliminate wasteful redundancies with this powerful tool for control over the drawing no matter who had it before you.

Join Nearest
Highly improved command that allows you to define tolerances and safety checks when joining objects together.

Shrink-Wrap Entities
Time- and effort-saving method of defining boundaries.

Drawing Inspector
Get an instantaneous and dynamic readout of bearings, distances, elevations and other information for Quality Assurance activities.

3D Viewer Window
View perspectives and get elevational analysis of 3D data and surfaces with this tool, which has eliminated the need for costly graphics hardware upgrades.

2D/3D Polyline Utilities
With these, Carlson gives you tools to enhance the use of polylines that AutoCAD® doesn’t have.

Erase by Layer
Save time eradicating data on layer(s) without having to isolate, erase and restore them.

Quick Keys Editor
Quickly key in shortcut commands to speed your own projects.

Point Data Management
Organize your point data with these valuable tools for setting, managing, modifying and reporting point data.

Product Data Management
Define and Assign… Carlson Civil allows you, the end user, to define your project folder structure in the way that makes sense to you and your organization, with as little or as much complexity as suits your needs, and then assign the data types used in the Carlson Civil Suite to the folers you’ve defined. At Carlson Software, we know that this is a critical key to your successful implementation of the software, so we let you design it yourself.

Surface Modeling
Develop and analyze surfaces and their respective contours and labels in just one step. This tool eliminates the need to run a complex series of commands to perform this oft-needed function. External and sharable files are stored, various analyses are performed to ensure data integrity and automatic labeling guarantees that all contours are appropriately labeled with reactive annotation precisely as the user wishes.

Annotation
Produce clean, well-documented project plans fast and efficiently with precise tools that use Carlson Civil’s library of annotation features. Carlson Civil allows you to introduce your own annotation style to personalize your drawing and provides the tools to quickly clean up complicated annotation challenges in dense drawings. Text overlaps are automatically checked and you have the option of allowing the software to correct it or choose the correction you prefer.

Volumes
The Civil Suite’s volume computations use the industry’s most accurate algorithms and can be based directly on the source data, thereby eliminating any inaccuracies found in other algorithms. Detailed reports in a variety of ways, plus cut/fill labels, color maps and centroids in the drawing file can be produced, all with easy-to-use tools.

System Requirements

For Carlson’s CAD-Based Products

Note: Carlson products installed on top of the CAD products of IntelliCAD or AutoCAD, are subject to the same requirements as the CAD engine itself. Please follow the requirements for the CAD platform listed below and allow an additional 750 MB of hard-drive space for the Carlson application.

Carlson 2016-2018 with IntelliCAD 8.x

  • Compatible with 32 or 64 bit Windows Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, and 10
  • For hardware requirements, see Carlson 2013-2015* below

Carlson 2013-2015* with IntelliCAD 7.2

*Starting with 2013 build 130120

Intel® Pentium® 4 or comparable (minimum), Intel i7 or at least Intel i5 or comparable (recommended). Due to the variety of processors on the market, one can use cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php to do comparative analysis. While the overall processor score matters, the single thread performance is of the most interest.

  • 32-bit Windows 7-8.1: 1 gigabyte (GB) of RAM minimum for, 4 GB recommended.
  • 64-bit Windows 7-8.1: 2 GB of RAM minimum for, 8+ GB recommended.
  • Windows Vista: 1 GB of RAM minimum, 4 GB recommended.
  • Windows XP: 512 megabytes (MB) of RAM minimum, 2 GB recommended.

Graphics card compatible with OpenGL Version 1.4 or higher:

  • Recommended are desktop graphics level discrete (not integrated cards like Intel HD) graphics cards.
  • Preferably Nvidia Geforce due to their more consistent driver support.
  • Discrete ATI/AMD cards will be adequate, but ATI’s driver support has been spotty and user is frequently deferred to the computer manufacturer for support.
  • Professional Nvidia Quadro cards are not currently recommended due to driver issues.
  • Powerful gaming cards are not required and probably would not provide as much benefit as investment in more memory or better CPU

Carlson 2012 and earlier with IntelliCAD 7.1 and 6.x based products

  • Windows® XP, Windows® Vista, Windows® 7
  • Intel Pentium® or more powerful processor
  • 64-bit machines are supported, but application itself is 32-bit
  • 1 GB RAM (minimum), 4 GB recommended (for complex drawings)
  • 400 MB of free hard disk space (1.2 GB Total, see Note above)

AutoCAD®

Please visit the AutoCAD System Requirements page for current specifications which are subject to change without advance notice.

Please visit the Autodesk summary of the Operating system compatibility for AutoCAD (Autodesk Bulletin TS14078105) for historical references between AutoCAD and its supported operating system(s).

Please see Note above for hard disk space requirements for the Carlson application.
